Y.H2とnaNkaのメンバーでつくる親子キリン
Creating A Parent and A Child Giraffe Sculptures with Members from Y.H.2 and naNka

キリンオブジェの制作がスタートしました。
A giraffe sculptures project has begun.

①まずは粘土で形成します。ここ２体で約１ヶ月ほどかかりました。自分たちより大きいサイズのものをつくるのは見えない部分も出てくるので簡単ではありません。
1, First, we made giraffe shapes with clay. It took almost a month to create two bodies. It was not easy to work on sculptures that are bigger than us as there were some spots that we can not see clearly.

②次に完成した粘土像を石膏で型取ります。乾燥まで約２週間ほどかかります。
2, The second process was to make plaster casts. It took about two weeks to dry.

③石膏が乾いたら丁寧に割って行きます。キリンは首や足など細い部分が多いのでデリケートな作業です。
3, Cracked plaster after it got dry. We were being very careful on this process as the giraffe’s neck and legs were thin and they were easy to break.

④半身になった石膏の粘土を取り出します。粘土が残ると形が変わってしまいます。ここも丁寧な作業が必要です。
4, Removed clay from plaster casts. It needed delicate work here too because the shapes would not be as we wished if we left any clay pieces.

⑤型に骨組みをして建築用塗料で約１０年の耐久性があるFRP(プラスチック溶液）を流します。
5, Attached extra frames and poured the FRP (fiber reinforced plastics) into plaster casts.

⑥FRP(プラスチック溶液）が固まったら、取り出します。ようやくカタチが完成しました。
6, Removed plaster casts after FRP got solidified. Finally, we finished making shapes of giraffes.

⑦みんなで色を塗っていきます。ここが一番楽しい作業かもしれません。思い思いの色を塗り重ねていきます。みんなの目がキラキラと輝いています。
7, Painted colours together with members from naNka and Y.H2. It was probably the most fun part. They put whatever colours they want. Everybody looked having a good time.

ついにキリンオブジェが完成！ここまで約４ヶ月。長い道のりです。naNkaのアーティストもY.H2の利用者も様々な障害があります。健常者のようなスピードで進めることはできませんが、時間をかければ素晴らしい作品をつくることができます。

制作中には予想外の出来事が起こります。どう解決していくのか策を練るのも、その手段にも知恵と時間がたくさん必要になりますが、それこそが難しくも楽しいところでもあります。交互に作業に携わり、仲間たちと少しずつものを作り上げていくことは彼らの喜びです。

次回はいよいよ第一調剤薬局さんに設置！

And finally, the giraffe statues were finished after 4 months!! It was long. Members of naNka and Y.H2 are with disabilities. It is difficult to conduct projects on the same schedule as people without disabilities. However, they create wonderful pieces if they could take a little more time.

There were also some troubles during the project. We needed more time and ideas to solve the problems and it was a hard but fun part. Creating something with their fellows is certainly their happiness.

Next step: construct the giraffe statues at our client’s facility Dai-ichi pharmacy!
